As are all systems within our society, oppression, and inequality are by design; therefore, they can and must be redesigned. When you become a Power Shifter, you are a Design Ally for our Seeds of Power (SOP) Fellows, helping to identify issues of systemic inequality and co-create concrete opportunities for real community change.

While Black and Latino/a/x/e youth want to improve well-being for themselves and their families, friends, communities, and culture, they currently feel unheard, unsupported, or excluded from opportunities to amplify their power and work toward liberation. Through our SOP Fellowship program, Creative Reaction Lab trains and pays Black and Latino/a/x/e youth, ages 18-26, to be part of co-creating impactful initiatives that, when implemented, impact social justice and racial inequality in their communities.

SOP Fellows develop in a variety of areas, such as growing their cultural, racial, and ethnic consciousness, systems thinking to understand structures or power and inequity and using their skillset to translate work to action. In addition to the $25/hour salary, Fellows receive stipends for transportation, technology, mental health assistance, and project launches related to their career field, so they have full support to do this important work with us. They are shifting power in our communities - and you can, too by becoming a Power Shifter!
