Digital Media Content & Marketing Associate (Unpaid Internship)

Creative Reaction Lab is currently accepting applications for our Digital Media Content & Marketing Associateship program.

Creative Reaction Lab seeks to eradicate inequity and oppression experienced by Black and Latinx people through design, entrepreneurship, community organizing and leadership, and intrapreneurship to transform the media, education, health/healthcare, and government/public service sectors. To create systems-wide change, we’re taking two approaches: 1) creating a collaborative youth-led, community-centered movement challenging racial inequities, and 2) transforming the ways that individuals and institutions approach design and decision-making through what we call Equity-Centered Community Design.

As part of a small organization, Associates gain invaluable insight into the day-to-day workings of a social enterprise challenging racial injustices and disparities using creative problem solving.

Each Associateship is designed to challenge the candidate in their particular area(s) of interest through dedicated research and practice. Associates also lend support to the daily needs and greater goals of the organization. Participation in this program is on a volunteer basis, and great attention is paid to ensure a high quality experience for all Associates. For those seeking academic credit, the necessary documents must be supplied prior to the start of the Associateship term. Each participant receives one-on-one mentoring and preparation for the next step in their career. All applicants should have a personal laptop to use during Associateship.

HOW TO APPLY

SCHEDULE

The program often follows the university semester schedule, but the exact terms are considered case-by-case and determined by the Associate and their supervisor. All Associateships are a minimum of ten hours per week during the regular work week (Monday – Friday). Associateships may include evening and weekend hours, as determined on a case-by-case basis. Dependent on time, the Program and Education Associate may co-facilitate workshops and trainings.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

DIGITAL AND SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING AND BRANDING

Support the development and implementation of Creative Reaction Lab’s branding and marketing strategy. This includes, but is not limited to: updating site content, developing marketing collateral, developing and publishing e-blasts, and developing press releases.

Ensure consistent brand visibility across digital and social media platforms through content generation, editing, and publication.

Coordinate and publish the weekly newsletter in collaboration with the President and Chief Executive Officer.

Support the promotion of key events, including the Artwork For Equity Campaign and monthly network member meetings.

Support the moderation of the Equity-Centered Community Design Slack channel.

Support the documentation of programs, training, and events through photography, videography, and/or livestreaming on social media.

Research and maintain press lists as needed.

Conduct A/B testing, surveys, and other forms of feedback to gather insights about audience engagement.

OUTREACH AND RECRUITMENT:

Support the outreach and recruitment efforts for youth programming, including Design to Better [Our Community] and the Community Design Apprenticeship Program. Support includes: direct community and campus outreach, collecting applications, reviewing applications, and managing applicant communications.

Support the recruitment and outreach efforts for program volunteers and community partners. This includes but is not limited to: Local Advisory

Council members, photographers and videographers, and guest speakers.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Excellent oral and written communications skills.

Ability to take initiative and to work both independently and cooperatively with other team members in a creative, fast-paced environment.

Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.

Experience with major social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

The ability to work on Mac and PC platforms with standard office applications/programs.

Experience with any of the following products and platforms preferred: Adobe Suite, Squarespace, Hootsuite, Basecamp, Slack, and Typeform.
